Traumatic Brain Injury

Transcript: Hi. I’m Indiana personal injury attorney David Holub.

This video discusses traumatic brain injury.

Many times our clients have suffered a traumatic brain injury as one of the injuries sustained in a collision or fall or other accident. A traumatic brain injury can be serious, where you have an open head injury, and it can be an injury that is more mild, where there has just been a concussion suffered or a mild trauma to the brain.

Most of these types of situations result in some symptoms that would be consistent with a concussion. You see today many sports organizations discussing concussions and the consequences of concussions. In a traumatic brain injury, the cells of the brain can be injured or damaged on a cellular level. They’re not often visible on even the best of modern day equipment, such as an MRI or CT scan.

Consequently, it is important to explain to your doctor if you are having symptoms of dizziness or symptoms of light and sound sensitivity, or you’re having a symptom such as a memory loss or difficulty concentrating.

These are all signs and symptoms of a traumatic brain injury. It can happen whether you hit your head on something in a crash or your head just simply moves or the brain floats inside of the skull and will hit the front or back of the skull or the side of the skull and actually be damaged during the deceleration movement that occurs during a crash.

So, explain to your doctor if you’re having symptoms and explain to your attorney if you’re having symptoms that are associated with a traumatic brain injury.

There are many different books and authors that write on the subject and can help give insight as to how to recover from these types of injuries, and the key point is letting your physicians know what you’re dealing with in terms of an injury, and they can help you get well from that injury.
