Cases That A Personal Injury Attorney Handles

Wow, what an election! And before you ask, no I’m not going to reveal who I voted for, or against as some would say. I find talking politics to my clients can cause problems. Politics just gets people riled up. And it’s the result of that emotional riling that people say and do things that they’ll regret later.

Months ago, I wrote an article about certain groups of people who were being recruited to participate as shields for human brigades in streets and highways. These recruits were being selected because of their dislike for a certain political figure. The recruits were also being injured as a result of their willingness to join such a demonstration.

Now that the election is over you would think the protests would stop, yet they haven’t and people are still getting hurt. Now the protest groups are recruiting more people in hopes they can somehow change the status of the election and get the vote recounted. Sadly, that’s not how democracy works, that’s how property is destroyed and people end up in the hospital.

Two days after the election, a young lady was beaten severely by a group because she was wearing a hat which had the slogan of the winning candidate on it. Another protester set the American flag on fire and threw it at another in hopes of causing harm. Protestors are using live video streaming to get their destructive messages out quicker and some have resorted to defecating in public as a way to “shock” viewers in what they are trying to accomplish.

Sadly, what they hope to accomplish is exactly the opposite of their actions.

So why do I share this with you?

I share it, because as a Personal Injury Lawyer practicing in the State of Indiana I want you to consider for a moment the ramifications of rioting, protesting and causing harm to property and individuals. Peaceful protesting is one thing, but physically assaulting another person or violently destroying property is against the law.

When a protestor gets hurt while demonstrating his/her insurance may not cover them as they were willfully putting themselves in harm’s way. Victims who get hurt as a result of demonstrations are sometimes told by their insurance that they need to initiate a lawsuit so their claims can be settled. In either case both fall out of the purview of what a personal injury attorney would represent.

We’ve had a few people approach us and wonder if they could sue because they received injuries as a result of either demonstrating or being the victim of a demonstration. Our answer is sure you can sue, but we don’t handle those types of cases.
